A 58-year-old Newcastle fan is in a stable condition in the hospital after being stabbed in Milan on Monday, Italian police have confirmed. The fan was stabbed twice in the arm and once in the back, but is expected to be released from the hospital on Tuesday.

Images shared online show a man with a bloodied torso lying on the ground. A Newcastle spokesperson said, “We are deeply concerned by reports that a fan was seriously assaulted in Milan on Monday night, and we are in contact with the local authorities to understand the circumstances.
“Our thoughts are with the fan and his family, and we hope for a full and swift recovery.”
The fan has been identified as Eddie McKay, who was with his son when he was attacked. A local police spokesperson said, “A 58-year-old Englishman, a Newcastle fan, was stabbed around midnight by a group of seven or eight individuals while he and a friend were between Via Segantini and Via Gola in Milan. He was stabbed once in the back and twice in the arms.”
McKay’s daughter, Rachel McKay, told Sky Sports News that her father is stable but in shock. The brother is okay but also in shock after witnessing what happened to our father.
